Field events

While a squad is deployed, or while your Crawler defender is on duty, the game interrupts with a card: a short situation and two or three choices.

They are not flavour. A card can cost you troops, pay you loot, start a fight, or do nothing, and the choice is yours.

Reading a card

Most cards trade risk against reward, and the right answer depends on what you are carrying. The safe option on a run with a full haul is usually correct even when the odds look good, because the downside is measured against everything you are holding rather than against the card.

They are on a cooldown

Cards do not fire back to back. There is a cooldown across surfaces, so a run cannot be turned into a slot machine, and the same card will not chase you between squads.

Weighting

Cards are weighted per player and the weights decay as you see them, so the pool shifts as you play rather than serving the same three cards forever.
